CBN Made from cubic boron nitride. CBN are characterized by high hardness and resistance to high temperatures. In addition, elboron crystals are resistant to various chemical components of alloys and steel.
For different stages of sharpening, elbor bars of different grain sizes are available: coarser ones for forming RK and Black mortar Lysium, smaller grains - for cleaning, summarizing and polishing.
Comparing elbor and diamond grains, it is clear that elbor grains in the bar work softer, while not making unwanted scratches on the cutting edge during processing. This is due to the fact that elbor has an octahedral crystal structure - the number of cutting edges is greater with less sharp corners - this results in softness during processing and wider metal removal. Diamond has a tetrahedral crystal structure, in which there are fewer cutting edges and sharper crystal corners - which leads to "aggressive" diamond work during finishing and subsequent finishing.
